Dedication

22 Aug 2023|FrJohn

The feast of the Queenship of Mary (August 22nd) celebrates the accomplishment of God’s plan for our salvation. Our Lord Jesus Christ rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven. At the Dormition and Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the mother of our Lord joins him in Heaven. Body and soul, crowned Queen of Heaven and Earth, Our Lady of Apocalypse shares in our Lord’s victory forever.

Mary is our mother and is able to do for us what she did for her son Jesus. She forms us into the body of Christ. She is with us as we journey through our own trials and tribulations in today’s world.

Our Lady of Apocalypse

I dedicate this blog to Our Lady of Apocalypse, the Queen of Heaven and Earth

and to

St. Bernard of Clairvaux (feastday: August 20th)

and to

St. Teresa Benedicta by the Cross (feastday: August 9th)

Edith Stein understood how to face evil:

“Dear Mother, I beg you, give me permission to offer myself to the Heart of Jesus as a [sacrifice] of atonement for the sake of true peace, that the Antichrist’s sway may be broken…Every time I feel my powerlessness and inability to influence people directly, I become more keenly aware of the necessity of my own holocaust” She understood the writings of two great Carmelites: St. Teresa of Avila and St. John of the Cross. She helps us to understand St. John of the Cross in her book: The Science of the Cross.

and to

St. Rose of Lima (feastday: August 23rd)

She gives us a simple and profound insight into the value of taking up our cross:

“Our Lord and Savior lifted up his voice and said with incomparable majesty: ‘Let all men know that grace comes after tribulation. Let them know that without the burden of afflictions it is impossible to reach the height of grace… that the gifts of grace increase as the struggles increase. Let men take care not to stray and be deceived. This is the only true stairway to paradise, and without the cross they can find no road to climb to heaven’.”

and to

Blessed Carlo Acutis (feastday: October 12th)

He will be the first millennial to be canonized a saint. He designed websites and promoted devotion to the Most Holy Eucharist. “To always be close to JESUS, that’s my life plan.”

Their lives, messages, writings and insights guide us to interpret current events. Through their intercession may we receive the grace and courage we need to accept our Lord’s invitation to take up our cross and follow him. 8/22/2023
